5 Resolutions for a Happy and Healthy New Year

Happy 2020! The new year brings with it the promise of new beginnings and fresh starts. This is a great time to renew your commitment to your well-being and health. Making (and keeping!) these five resolutions will help you feel your best throughout 2020 and beyond.

  1. Eat Mindfully

If you’re used to chowing down a meal with your eyes scanning a screen, resolve to eat more mindfully in 2020. Slowing down, focusing on your food and enjoying the experience can reduce overeating. Without the distraction of a screen, you are more likely to notice when you feel full, and you’ll find the foods you eat more enjoyable.

  1. Get Good Rest

Stow your phone or tablet away at bedtime too. Resolving to stick to a regular sleep schedule can do wonders for your mood and your health. If you have trouble unwinding at night, don’t reach for your phone. Instead, opt to read a few pages of a good book, enjoy a cup of chamomile tea or take a hot bath to relax before hitting the sheets. Creating a bedtime routine can help tell your body it is time to unwind and prepare for sleep.

  1. Practice Gratitude.

Start 2020 with a commitment to acknowledge all that you are grateful for. Follow the tips in this blog post to get started and remember that shifting your focus can reduce stress and enhance your well-being.

  1. Move Every Day.

Make it a goal to move your body for at least 30 minutes every day. If you have trouble finding time in your busy schedule, focus on taking three ten-minute walks a day. Squeeze in time before work, on your lunch break and after work. For extra motivation, enlist a friend to help get you through your routine. Making physical activity a regular part of your day can have a drastic effect on your health, both mentally and physically.

  1. Come in for an Adjustment.

Chiropractic adjustment is the primary tool we use to treat our patients. By manually applying force, we can effectively adjust dysfunctions in the extremities or spine. Because we take a multifaceted approach to care, we often use this well-researched form of therapy in conjunction with other treatments to provide pain relief, increase flexibility and enhance your quality of life. There’s not better way to start off the new year!
